After the sumo matches came the Mochi Throwing Ceremony. Mochi is pounded rice which is made into little, round, white cakes. Bags of these were thrown from the balcony into the crowd for everyone to scramble about and collect as much as they could.
It was great fun! Megan collected a huge bagful!
We had a great time-a chance to visit a ceremony that most
visitors to Japan will never get. A very special treat!
